Three times, neighbors have held the monster back

Sausalito residents at a Save Our Sausalito community meeting about the 605 Bridgeway project.

The “monster” at 605 Bridgeway is still just a proposal — and that is not an accident. Every time it has come up, neighbors have organized and pushed it back.

In November 2024, after more than 2,300 petition signatures and a stack of expert filings, the City formally found the project inconsistent with Sausalito's standards — complete, but not approved. In early 2025, the site was removed from the City's Housing Element, keeping it out of Measure J and under the historic district's 32-foot limit. And in April 2025, after a packed hearing, the Planning Commission denied the developer's appeal 4–1.

None of it was inevitable. It happened because people came to meetings, wrote letters, and spoke up. The developer has appealed to the City Council, and the work continues — but the record is clear: when this neighborhood shows up, it wins.
